Spider-Man's Kirsten Dunst Says She Was Almost Forced To Fix Her Teeth To Play Mary Jane

Well, folks, it seems Andrew Garfield – a.k.a. everyone’s second favorite Peter Parker who probably only wants nothing more than the sweet, sweet sound of silence after facing a barrage of harassment from fans and reporters alike desperate to know if he’ll appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home next month –  isn’t the franchise’s only alum to speak out about their less-than-stellar experience in Spider-Verse.

In a recent profile with The Independent, Kirsten Dunst, the actress who played Mary Jane in the Sam Raimi trilogy, including that upside-down kissing scene and the “this one’s for you,” emo Spider-Man musical extravaganza from the series’ third installment also had some purportedly bizarre experiences behind the scenes – including an allegedly non-consensual trip to the dentist. According to the actress, one of Spider-Man‘s producers took her to have her teeth fixed without informing her where she was headed.

“I was like, ‘Mmmmm, no, I like my teeth.” Dunst says she told the producer upon arriving at the dentist, “Also, Sofia loved my teeth,” she continued, referencing Sofia Coppola, who she worked with for 1999’s The Virgin Suicides and later for 2006’s Marie Antoinette

Aside from allegations of nearly-involuntary dental work, it seems salary also posed an issue, namely an “extreme” gap between her and Tobey Maguire, the franchise’s leading man.
