Of course, the Borat 2 star was not happy regarding the ruling, telling reporters that he found the panel’s decision “ridiculous.” “How can they say I lied without a hearing,” the anti-hair mascara spokesperson said, conveniently forgetting he repeated his bogus claims in courtrooms across the nation, spewing hot air not only from his mouth but allegedly from another orifice during his visit to Michigan. “They haven’t questioned me.”
As NBC News noted, in reaching the ruling, the panel “examined several comments” the once-beloved politician made and ultimately determined that no matter how many times the former Mayor proverbially yelled “freedom of speech!” the investigation was not, in fact, a violation of his first amendment rights.
“This disciplinary proceeding concerns the professional restrictions imposed on respondent as an attorney to not knowingly misrepresent facts and make false statements in connection with his representation of a client,” reads the decision. “It is long recognized that ‘speech by an attorney is subject to greater regulation than speech by others.'”
However, Giuliani’s lawyers still aren’t buying it. “This is unprecedented as we believe that our client does not pose a present danger to the public interest,” said attorneys John Leventhal and Barry Kamins, who, unlike their client, can notably practice law in the state of New York. “We believe that once the issues are fully explored at a hearing Mr. Giuliani will be reinstated as a valued member of the legal profession that he has served so well in his many capacities for so many years.”
So folks, although Rudy Giuiliani may be many things, a greasy old man, a notorious farter, a purveyor of dripping hair dye, it seems there is one thing he is not – a lawyer in the eyes of New York State.
